Spring Is Here!

April 30, 2026July 4, 2026 lilstingersva

Another month and another new hive! I found a local beekeeper who was selling nucs (established hives). I got the call while I was on vacation with the family and set-up the pick up for mid-April. The drive to Rural Retreat was nice and meeting with the keeper is always fun. I love his stories… Continue reading Spring Is Here!

We were out of town celebrating our 16-year-old's birthday and spring break when I got a call from an unknown number. I don't usually answer those calls, but decided to entertain whoever was on the other line. I'm glad I did - it was Mr. K, my contact from 2025 calling to offer me a… Continue reading And Another One…

2026 honey season was a success! I harvested twice and yielded over 300 ounces of sweet golden bee juice! In combination with reserves from last year, you sweet supporters purchased over 400 ounces of honey and 200 ounces of honeycomb! This hobby beekeeper is very overwhelmed and grateful for the support. As we get deeper into fall and move towards winter, please keep the bees in mind. The money made will be used to either expand my small apiary, repair and replace equipment, and/or expand more into beeswax foundations to be able to provide more honeycomb in 2027!THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! ...

I’ve had several inquiries about our honey and once I get to the price… crickets. I get it. You can get honey at your local grocery for 29-56 cents per ounce. Local honey, especially from hobby beekeepers, will cost more. We collect the frames (aka get suited up and have very angry bees around us for hours), uncap the wax, spin the frames, strain the honey and bottle the honey ourselves. That process takes time and is risky (stings) and hot. $1.00/ounce is paying for all that time, sweat, possible stings, and caretaking of the hives the rest of the year. Thank you to Lil Stingers supporters and those who see the value in local honey!🍯 ...
