Lil Stingers Honey started out of curiosity. I noticed a great deal of honeybees buzzing around our boxwood bush. I had never seen so many bees taking interest in our yard. In jest, I told my husband I should find a way to catch them and give them a home.
I had no clue how to go about this but it had my brain buzzing with the idea of being a beekeeper. So I purchased “Beekeeping for Dummies” and learned lots of information about how to maintain a beehive. But I was scared – for every post I read of how easy it was to start beekeeping, I read a post about a colony dying due to poor conditions, mites, weather, and inexperienced keepers.
It took a little while to gather supplies. I was gifted items, I purchased items, and I sat with those items for a while before deciding to make the leap into being a beekeeper. It’s been an amazing, scary, delicious and fragrant adventure! I’m excited to share my journey into keeping hives and hope you’ll enjoy following along.
